Hi,
My name is Veera-Lotta Lehtomaa and I am the head trainer of Doggyglot dog training school. I founded Doggyglot in 2021, in Lago Di Como, Italy, to raise awereness of canine language and positive training methods, because I strongly believe that the more educated we become, the better choices we are able to make for our selves and for our animals.
This is something I noticed myself over 16 years ago when my first puppy, Merlin, made a fool out of me every single time I took him to the dog park. Instead of leaving for home with me when it was time to go, we ended up playing catch me if you can for another 30 to 40 minutes. Believe me, it was not my choice. I was lucky though, that in Finland, where I was born, there were already at that time, a lot of good quality education opportunities for people who wanted to understand better how canines think and reason. At the end, I ended up studying canine and animal behaviour and physiology for many years in Dog Oriented Institute and Professional Adult educational center Amiedu in Finland. In 2008 I graduated from Turid Rugaas International Dog training Education and specialized into solving problematic canine behaviours ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turid_Rugaas ).
I found my path, because I wanted to understand how come a 5 month old puppy was able to rally me around as he pleased. From that moment on I have dedicated my passion to understanding dogs and educating people about how wonderful they are and how to teach them better.
I hope to see you soon on courses so you too can become a part of Doggyglot team.
Best of love: Veera-Lotta
Jam is one of the canine assistance dogs that Doggyglot actively uses as a helper with the clients. Jam is an older mixbreed female dog that is excellent in reading and using canine language. She has a calming effect on other dogs and her judgement never fails. Jam arrived to us from a dog shelter almost four years ago.
Aura is a young German Shepherd female who was originally abandoned. When she came to us she suffered from severe separation anxiety and many other behavioural problems. Aura is often used in videos when teaching how certain behaviours are done, because she is curious and playfull and has a high workmentality. Aura is also specialiced in scent detection.
Roger is a middle aged, fox terrier male, that came to live with our family when he was just two years old. He has lived a difficult puppyhood and suffers from OCD which affects his possibility to concentrate when there is disturbance around. He is however a very playful and clever dog and he is an excellent little helper to show you how certain tricks are done. Roger you can meet during video lectures.
